The Culottes Trend.

culottes

My latest obsession is the wonder that is the culotte. Originally worn by gentlemen of the European upper class in the late Middle Ages they somehow made their way into women's fashion and having been a huge trend during the 60's and 70's they disappeared off the radar only to make a modern comeback in 2015.

I put together two different ways I would style them. Both sticking to the androgynous theme.

What are your thoughts on culottes.. yes or nah?

March Style Inspiration.

So, I've decided that every so often it would be nice to make a post based around pictures I come across on places like tumblr and pinterest in an attempt to inspire different ways to style things.

It's easy to get stuck in a bit of a style rut sometimes, most days I wear the same jeans and a smelly old hoodie my boyfriend left behind. But seeing pictures like these makes me want to pack in this homeless vibe I have going on and opt for something a little less help me i'm poor and a little more Alexa Chung meets Dawn Porter.

Here's what's catching my eye this month:
Mom jeans
Crocet bralets
Tulle skirts
Layered necklaces

I hope this has inspired at least one of you!
Until next time folks!

Manuka Honey Face Mask

I'm forever trying to come up with ways to save money and make my own face and hair masks. One recipe I came across a year or two ago was this one, I began using it at a time my skin was covered in breakouts that I couldn't shift and within 3 months of using it I saw a dramatic change in my skins appearance and so, I have been using this ol' reliable mask on and off since.

You will need:
2 tablespoons of Manuka Honey
2 tablespoons of Cinnamon
2 drops of Tea Tree Oil

Manuka Honey is a natural antibacterial, it contains acids, which aids in the clearing of dead skin cells preventing and clearing acne. While doing this it also hydrates, rejuvenates and protects the skin. Cinnamon helps to bring blood and nutrients to the skin while helping to dry any acne on the face. While adding a drop or two of tea tree oil will remove any kind of bacteria that can build up on your skin causing more breakouts.

Please do share any diy face masks you know of, I'd love to try them!

February in pictures

So if you don't know already, to change things up on my blog and to steer away from the usual fashion and beauty posts I have decided to share a few of my favourite instagram snaps on here and give a little low down on the past month.

I'm still struggling to come to terms with the fact that we're already into March. February was quite stressful with college, work and everything else inbetween it's no wonder it flew in! But sandwiched between all that I had a lovely Valentine's Day, finally got to see The Kooks, let my friend paint my body and started to plan a few little summer getaways.

Get The Look | Carrie Bradshaw

Before you say it, yes I know, Carrie Bradshaw is a fictional character who doesn't actually exist but to me any girl that can pull off a tulle skirt and ghetto hoops deserves recognition.

Carrie's style is the epitome of the late the 90's and early 00's. It's impossible to sum up her look in just one word. She went from ghetto to girly in a moment and each outfit had it's own authentic quality. She manages to look effortless yet put together and because of that she is my ultimate style icon.

I put together two different Carrie-esque looks that I feel is a little more wearable yet still staying true to style. I am aware that not all of us are lucky enough to have the body of SJP and the perseverance to wear heels on a daily basis, but you can easily tailor the look to what suits you.

Carrie Bradshaw

Does anyone else really wish she married Aiden instead of Big in the end? no.. just me? cool.

The Outfit | Thirteen

Shirt: Vintage
Shorts: River Island
Cardigan: c/o my momma
Boots: Pennys (Primark)

I have a slight thing for vintage mens shirts, this used to have long sleeves, to make it more wearable I cut it up into a crop top and chopped off the sleeves.. I think it's too cute!

Give my blog some lovin'!

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentines day filled with romantical adventures. I'm feeling fairly fragile today. Less romance, more alcohol for me.

The best in dark lips.

As much as I love a nude lip, I also love a dark one. When i'm not too arsed fussing about my eyes making them look fancy I tend to just throw on some mascara and my favourite dark lip and i'm good to go.
So, I've rounded up my 3 favourite red and berry colours to share with you all.

Barry m's 121 is a gorgeous bright red colour. It is the most matte of the three so if you prefer glossier lips then steer away from this. However I love the matte effect. The colour is reasonably long lasting but I wouldn't leave the house without it for top ups.
I would give this a 8/10.

Collection's 'gothic glam' is a dark purple colour. Not to everyone's taste but I love the idea of my lips being as dark as my soul so I wear it whenever I have the chance. The colour is slightly matte and I would recommend buying a lip liner in the same colour to ensure everything stays in place.
I would give this a 6/10.

And finally, Rimmel's 'diva red' is the perfect deep red shade. The glossiest colour of the three, it can tend to find it's way onto my teeth so you might need to keep an eye out for any mishaps. The colour is perfect for both pale and darker skin tones. It is very long lasting and keeps my lips moisturized throughout my time wearing it.
I would give this a 7/10.

What's your favourite dark lip colour?

The Outfit | Twelve

Jumper: Vintage
Trousers: Forever21
Boots: Missguided

I'm channeling my inner 90's toddler in this outfit. My mam recently found this jumper stashed in the back of her wardrobe and I was more than happy to claim it as my own. My jumper obsession is getting out of control. Pairing it with these printed trousers, I look like I just stepped straight out of 1996. Pass me my Furbie.

Here's vintage Adele in a similar outfit about 18 years ago.
